POWER AND FUNCTIONS OF KASTLEA
1. Implement and enforce thee provision of the road traffic law cap 135 of Kaduna State 1991 and the road traffic regulation, 2007.
2. To direct and control traffic on the public roads in the state.
3. To direct traffic on public roads and highways in Township in the State.
4. Inspect vehicle and issue certificate of road worthless.
5. Impound vehicles that are not properly parked or causin Traffic hold-up along public roads in the state.
6. Register and License driving schools in the state.
7. Conduct driving test and issue Learners Permit and Drivers License.
8. Impound overloaded vehicle.
9. Ensure the installation of Road Traffic Signs.
10. Educate and enlighten vehicle users and the general public on the proper ways to use road.
11. Enhance and designate bus stops and bus terminals in the state.
12. Identify, develop, promote and maintain new or alternative methods of traffic management and road safety tips.
13. Provide emergency towing services for broken down vehicles that obstruct the flow of traffic.
14. Designate the route to be followed by vehicles generally or vehicles of the class to which the vehicle belongs or the roads which are to be used for traffic by such vehicles.
15. Designate areas meant for the use as parking lots.
16. Safeguard roads from encroachment of marketers, motor parks and activities of the street traders, hawkers and beggers.
17. Exercise such powers and perform such other duties as provided in this law or any other law as the authority may consider necessary or expendient to achieve the objectives of this law.
